Description
Polevik — a medium-intensity winter soft wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety with universal characteristics and well-expressed steppe ecotype traits. Mid-early and mid-height, with a stem height of 90-100 cm and a vegetation period of 280-288 days, this variety is distinguished by high yield, reaching 73.4-82.5 centners per hectare, surpassing the performance of standard varieties. It is included in the State Register for the North Caucasus region and recommended for cultivation in the Republic of Crimea.
The Polevik variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging, shattering, and germination of grains on the root, as well as good frost and winter hardiness (6-8 points), drought and heat tolerance (7-8 points). It is resistant to several diseases, including brown rust, hard rust, powdery mildew, root rot, septoria, and fusarium, ensuring stable yields and grain quality. Grain quality belongs to the strong wheat varieties, with protein content of 13.7-14.1% and 1000-grain weight of 39-42 g.
Polevik responds well to application of mineral fertilizers, especially nitrogenous top-dressings, which allows increasing productivity and grain quality. The variety is adapted for sowing after various preceding crops and at different times, making it a universal and reliable choice for agricultural production in regions with corresponding climatic conditions.
