SIBIRSKAYA 17 is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), developed by the Novosibirsk State Agrarian University and registered in 2013. The variety belongs to the lutescens group and is characterized by a medium-late maturation period with a vegetative period of 81 to 93 days. It is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Kirov region, Altai and Krasnoyarsk krais, Kemerovo and Amur oblasts, as well as the West Siberian and Far Eastern regions.
In terms of morphological characteristics, SIBIRSKAYA 17 differs in medium or low plant height with resistance to lodging. The variety has moderate resistance to powdery and bunt heads, brown rust, and septoria, which ensures crop stability under unfavorable conditions. In terms of drought resistance, it is at the level or slightly above the Predgornaya variety, making it suitable for regions with variable climatic conditions.
Yield of the variety varies depending on the region: in the Volga-Vyatsk region, the average yield is about 32.6 c/ha, in the West Siberian region — 38.0 c/ha, and in the Far Eastern region — 28.8 c/ha, which corresponds to average standards. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 33 to 48 grams, indicating good grain quality. Baking qualities of the variety are assessed as good, making it in demand for flour and bakery product production.
